Commonwealth Animal Hospital

It did not start off having a good experience at my vet visit today., for my cats nail trim. it started out fine. I was sent to a room very first time I came here., They told me that I was “early “ and I was like well,. What’s the problem with that?! today I came in it started all fine. I was sent to a room , they were short staffed. They said they didn’t have any vets there or they had no manager there. They were short-staffed and if I could hold him down? , said to wait they will be back. I said ok please excuse me for a few minutes , I just left my wallet in the car/ home live around corner. I need to go home. I ran out quickly sure enough my purse was in the car , thank goodness! ., prior they would take the cat back to the back of the office and I said OK well I’ll be right back in , once I get my wallet. Finally back in. the ladies that had the cat were way in back and I said to the women upfront , I’ll let her know that I’m here and she goes no you just go ahead and sit in the room ? I was like OK but nothing was being done. I was just sitting there. I didn’t know where my cat was?!” They seemed out to lunch no care in the world “. I was mortified something happened to him!!. They said that you know there weren’t any techs around that kind of thing. It was the most gut wrenching experience I’ve ever had with my cat and that office, not knowing where he is Staff telling me that they were going to come but nobody showed I felt very vulnerable . To the lady at the front , was to say that I needed to leave because I had to work so if they wouldn’t mind nicely, you know having that vet tech cat and you know, give the cat back to me so as I’m checking out, they tell me that it’s close to $48 for The nail trim normally from $18 to $25 my first visit. I was a new patient so it was gonna be a little more money understood. but I did not know that they were adding on that tech prices? come to find out it was close to $50 I have never in any of my time and any vets office paid that much money for a cat nail trim , then the final comment was the icing on the cake for me when the front desk receptionist/tech says to me well your cat was being difficult so we also needed to charge because it took two people to hold him down to do his nail trim and I’m like you gotta be kidding me ?!! you never make rude comments to people about their pets or say the cat was being difficult??! that was so out of line. and rude and disrespectful to me and my pet. I will never come to this vets office again with my my pet. I recommend, Go elsewhere for your money and pet love.

We have been going to Commonwealth with our pets for many years

The staff and vets here are absolutely amazing. They really care for the animals, take their time and listen to you, and are always quick to respond. They give you all the options and not just the one that costs the most money. I wouldn't take my dogs anywhere else. I live 45/50 minutes away now and will still continue to take my dog here.

I genuinely cannot say enough good things about Dr. Birch, Nurse Caroline, and Commonwealth Animal Hospital. This was hands down the best vet experience I’ve ever had. From the moment we arrived, I felt like they truly cared about my pup, Poppy, and weren’t just trying to get us in and out the door. Dr. Birch was incredibly thorough, knowledgeable, patient, and kind. She took the time to listen to every concern I had, explain what she was looking for and why, and answer all of my questions without ever making me feel rushed or like I was overthinking anything. Nurse Caroline was equally wonderful. She was so sweet, attentive, and gentle with Poppy and made the entire appointment feel comfortable and easy. You can tell immediately that both she and Dr. Birch genuinely love animals and care about the people attached to them, too. What impressed me most was how heard and reassured I felt when we left. I never felt pressured into unnecessary testing or treatments, and everything was explained clearly so I could make informed decisions about Poppy’s care. Finding a vet you completely trust with your dog is such a big deal, and I left feeling like we had absolutely found ours. I would recommend Dr. Birch, Nurse Caroline, and Commonwealth Animal Hospital to anyone. Truly a 10/10 experience!
